Leonidas Bakopoulos

ML & AI researcher working on deep reinforcement learning, decision-making under uncertainty and safe exploration.

About

I am a PhD student at the Technical University of Crete, where I also completed my integrated Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering (grade 8.51/10). Since December 2024 I have been working on the ERC project NEURi3D.

My research centres on deep reinforcement learning — in particular how agents should explore when they are uncertain, and how to make that exploration safe. I also work on world models and Transformer-based computer vision, and have a background in classic AI topics such as (ε-)Nash equilibria and algorithmic game theory.
